My first encounter with this quote was in 2008. Isolated from Senator (at the time) Obama’s full commencement address at Wesleyan University, it left me inspired to listen to his full address. The message was so powerful, just one year out of undergrad I was able to think about what I wanted to frame my degree with. Sure I had passions—music, fashion, public relations—but I started to think about what I was hitching my wagon to. I wanted to create a career that would use my passions for the betterment of humankind. Coming from a family deeply rooted in service, it was second nature for me to find programs and causes to serve. A Howard alumnae, truth & service is my motto. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I have intentionally committed my life to a service to all mankind.
